out of character?

i broke out of character yesterday and decided to go clubbing. in the name of 'independence' i figured "why not?". a friend called and her first words were "What happened?". i thought it would be one of those days where i do decide to go clubbing and later wonder why i bothered in the first place. but heck...i've got so much time to kill. wasting one night standing around watching people walk by wouldn't screw up my daily routine. turned out to be better than i expected. it was crowded...it was loud...people were drunk...but that's to be expected. bumped into some old friends that i used to go clubbing with back in those days where i still had the energy...the youth. now i'm just old...tired...

i'd prefer staying home and watching tv or reading a book. i'd rather hang out at a mamak or a bar engaged in deep conversation with friends and family. night clubs ain't my kinda scene no more. but i realized that people my age and older still enjoy the activity. so maybe i'm not growing old...maybe i've just changed. i was a wild child back in those days...then something happened i guess. i left for singapore and came back domesticated. then again...i always believe that i have a choice and if i wanted to revert back to 'wild child' behaviour i'm pretty sure i can. but i still enjoy the quiet life though. so now i guess i have to find a balance...a nice balance that gets me the best of both worlds.

interesting lyrics

Well after all, Pickering, I'm an ordinary man,
Who desires nothing more than an ordinary chance,
to live exactly as he likes, and do precisely what he wants...
An average man am I, of no eccentric whim,
Who likes to live his life, free of strife, doing whatever he thinks is best, for him,
Well... just an ordinary man... BUT,
Let a woman in your life and your serenity is through,
she'll redecorate your home, from the cellar to the dome,
and then go on to the enthralling fun of overhauling you...
Let a woman in your life, and you're up against a wall,
make a plan and you will find, that she has something else in mind,
and so rather than do either you do something elsethat neither likes at all
You want to talk of Keats and Milton, she only wants to talk of love,
You go to see a play or ballet, and spend it searching for her glove,
Let a woman in your life and you invite eternal strife,
Let them buy their wedding bands for those anxious little hands...
I'd be equally as willing for a dentist to be drilling than to ever let a woman in my life,
I'm a very gentle man, even tempered and good natured who you never hear complain,
Who has the milk of human kindness by the quart in every vein,
A patient man am I, down to my fingertips, the sort who never could, ever would,
let an insulting remark escape his lips Very gentle man...
But, Let a woman in your life, and patience hasn't got a chance,
she will beg you for advice, your reply will be concise,
and she will listen very nicely, and then go out and do exactly what she wants!!!
You are a man of grace and polish, who never spoke above a hush,
all at once you're using language that would make a sailor blush,
Let a woman in your life, and you're plunging in a knife,
Let the others of my sex, tie the knot around their necks,
I prefer a new edition of the Spanish Inquisition than to ever let a woman in my life
I'm a quiet living man, who prefers to spend the evening in the silence of his room,
who likes an atmosphere as restful as an undiscovered tomb,
A pensive man am I, of philosophical joys, who likes to meditate, contemplate, far for humanities mad inhuman noise, Quiet living man....
But, let a woman in your life, and your sabbatical is through,
in a line that never ends comes an army of her friends,
come to jabber and to chatter and to tell her what the matter is with YOU!,
she'll have a booming boisterous family, who will descend on you en mass,
she'll have a large wagnarian mother, with a voice that shatters glass,
Let a woman in your life, Let a woman in your life,
Let a woman in your life I shall never let a woman in my life.

the puppet masters

i've lost my will to write...to work...to blog...to do anything other than make like a veg in front of the tv. i need to get out of this rut. i have too much free time on my hands...its made me lazy and comfortable. so i'm comfortably lazy which isn't a good combination.

i've ran out of movies to watch. had to resort to HBO which was showing the puppet masters earlier. gosh...i remember how i used to think that show was cool. with the exception of the Alien series...i thought that the puppet masters and body snatchers were awesome movies. now that i watch it after being exposed to hollywood's latest in special effects...i can't help but laugh. so b grade...plus the dialogue a bit lame. but heck...its still entertaining and that's what matters.

*insert title here*

its been a slow week or two. it seems as if i have work piling up but when i look at it closely...its actually not much. i still find myself with a whole lot of free time.

movie watch:

Lady in the Water
its actually pretty good. won't say its excellent or that it's a must see. i'd say that its an acquired taste. all of M. Night Shyamalan's work is an acquired taste. it doesn't stray very far from his past work. although the plot is entirely different you can basically see some trademarks in lady in the water. won't give out the story but just make sure you watch it with an open mind. don't try to over-analyze it. its supposed to be fiction/fantasy.

Dragon Tiger Gate
i actually found it quite hilarious. i'm pretty sure the other guests in the cinema were not happy with my laughter. some of the scenes were borderline stupid...and the plot went from decent to outrageous towards the end. for a moment i thought "hey...this is a chinese movie that i could actually like" until it started becoming "Kung fu hustle" like. so i guess if you like kung fu hustle you might like this show.

nothing exciting seems to happen to me. life has been pretty stagnant and stale lately. i just wish i'd be hit with some pleasant surprises. the kind that keeps me on my toes. until then...i guess its going to be more movies and tv series to fill up my free time. can't complain...
