Changing conservative mindset via songs

KUALA LUMPUR: Music, including rap songs, will be used as part of an awareness campaign to help the Chinese community change their conservative mindset and old habits in this progressive society.

Yesterday, the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (FCAM) youth section launched a song composing competition as part of the campaign.

“Through songs and its lyrics, we hope to create awareness to help the Chinese community change their old fashion way of thinking and habits that had been a way of life,” said Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow, who launched the competition yesterday, said several local artistes would record the winning songs.

The competition, organised by FCAM and sponsored by the ministry, is opened to all Malaysians.

The closing date for the contest is Nov 24.

what? sometimes i really wonder who comes up with these things. beyond stupid. the old fashion way of thinking stems from the old fashioned people...which are probably age 40 and above. if music has not been able to change their mindsets before...i doubt it can now. other than that...i believe the chinese society in malaysia are pretty much forward thinkers...no?

idiots frustrate me.
